Who Salt Experiences Are For
Who can join a Salt Aotearoa freediving event?
All wāhine aged 18+ are welcome. Our community celebrates women from all backgrounds and experience levels — from total beginners to seasoned divers.
For private charters, we can accommodate tamariki and divers of all genders and ages, creating experiences tailored for families, schools, and groups.
Are beginners welcome?
Absolutely. All levels are welcome, but we have a soft spot for beginners. Our instructors create a supportive, confidence-building environment for those new to freediving.
Can we bring male partners?
These experiences are designed for anyone who identifies as a woman. They’re perfect whether you come solo or with friends — you’ll leave with a new tribe of ocean-loving wāhine.
Are Salt events led by women only?
Our kaupapa focuses on supporting wāhine in ocean spaces, but we also welcome male instructors or facilitators who bring valuable expertise to our sessions.
Payments + Booking
How do payments work?
We take non-refundable payments on our website, this might be the full cost or a deposit depending on the experience. The remaining balance is invoiced closer to your trip date — this helps us keep processing fees low and more of your payment supporting community mahi. We are always happy to sort out personalised payment plans too, so just send us a message if you’d like this option!
Do you offer part-payment options?
Not yet through Afterpay or similar services, but it’s on the way. In the meantime, we can arrange instalments directly — just email us to set one up.
What happens if Salt cancels a trip?
If unsafe weather or unforeseen circumstances force us to cancel before departure, you can choose a full refund or rebook for another date.
What if I cancel or can’t make it?
All deposits are non-refundable, and we’re unable to offer refunds for missed departures or cancellations on your end.
