Three days. A crew of wāhine. And a whole lot of ocean magic.

Whether you’re brand new to freediving, already diving and wanting to refine your technique, safely explore more depth, or you’ve been diving for yonks and have a few questionable habits to unlearn, this camp was made for you.

You don’t need to be the best freediver in the room.
You don’t need to arrive knowing anyone.
And you definitely don’t need to prove anything.

Come as you are. We’ll meet you there.

Over three days, you’ll learn, challenge yourself, build confidence in the moana and be surrounded by an incredible crew of wāhine doing it alongside you.

This is an SSI freediving camp, so you’ll also have the opportunity to work towards completing your SSI Freediver or SSI Advanced Freediver certification, depending on where you’re at in your diving journey.

But don’t let the certification requirements distract you from why this camp exists.

You don’t have to spend the weekend chasing depths, ticking boxes or trying to achieve a particular number.

The course is the framework. The camp is the experience.

Come to connect. Come to learn. Come to grow. Come to spend three bloody good days in the ocean with other wāhine. If you walk away with an SSI certification too, then that’s just a bonus.

That’s what this camp is really about.

THE WEEKEND

DAY 1 — CONNECT + LEARN

Friday 11 December

We meet at Whangārei Pools at 9am, where the crew comes together for the first time.

We’ll spend the day building the foundations — learning, practising, getting comfortable and working on the skills that will set you up for the ocean.

That afternoon we road-trip north to Northland Dive, our home for the weekend.

Settle in, meet your roomies, eat some kai and get ready for the good stuff.

DAY 2 — INTO THE MOANA

Wake up in beautiful Northland, have some kai and get ready for a full day on the water.

We’ll load up the waka and head out for a day of freediving, learning, exploring, building confidence and putting your new skills into practice — all supported by our experienced Salt crew.

Then it’s back to Northland Dive for good kai, recovery and probably an unreasonable amount of banter.

DAY 3 — ONE MORE FOR THE SOUL

Wake up, look around at your new forever friends and wonder how you only met these people two days ago.

Then we head back out onto the moana.

Another day to dive, consolidate your skills, challenge yourself, explore and soak up every last bit of oceanic goodness before we wrap up camp.

You’ll leave with more than freediving skills.

You’ll be taught by some of Aotearoa’s best and surrounded by an incredible depth of ocean experience; from freediving and spearfishing to competitive diving, commercial diving, coaching, and recreational catch-and-cook.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO ORGANISE

Dive gear is not included, so you’ll need to bring or arrange your own.

You’ll also need to arrange transport from Whangārei Pools to Northland Dive on Day 1.

But don’t stress if you’re coming solo. We’ll create a camp group chat beforehand so everyone can connect, introduce themselves and organise carpooling where possible.
